With no shortage of beautiful islands, finding where to go in August can be tricky. Although a very busy month, these are some of the best islands to visit during this popular time of the year.


  1. Serifos


With beautiful beaches, white-washed houses, and a hill-top charming Chora, Serifos is a hidden gem in the Cyclades perfect for those looking to relax but still have things to explore.


2. Sifnos


Also known as the foodie island, Sifnos is a paradise for those looking to explore great restaurants that don't break the bank and in a more laidback setting than some of the other Cyclades.


3. Kefalonia


Located in the Ionian Sea, Kefalonia is lush with beautiful beaches and mountains to explore. Being the largest of the Ionian Islands, it has no shortage of things to do and explore and it's also one of the easiest islands to get to with an international airport saving you time catching the ferry.


4. Paros


Although can be very busy in August, Paros is a great alternative for those looking for the same Mykonos vibes but at a lower price. It has no shortage of beautiful beaches, shops, and great restaurants and bars, making it one of the most vibrant Greek islands.


5. Antiparos


Located only a few minutes ferry ride from Paros, Antiparos is laidback, stylish and easy to explore if you're short on time but still want to island-hop. This island has a great atmosphere with the perfect mix of chill and nightlife.


6. Milos


You've probably seen photos of Milos across social media, this island is certainly having a moment and it's not hard to see why. With extraordinary landscape, and the charming Plaka, Milos is a must-see island.


7. Tinos


Tinos is another great option for August as less-known to tourists than its neighbour island Mykonos, only a 20-minutes ferry away. A fairly large island, it has no shortage of things to do and it's an ideal choice for those that want to mix culture with nature and gastronomy.


8. Syros


Part of the Cyclades, Syros is a cosmopolitan island where you can combine cultural activities in its beautiful capital Ermoupoli with traditional village life in Ano Syros and of course beach time.



9. Crete


One of the most well-known Greek island and also the largest, Crete is one of the easiest to get to for international travellers with a few airports spread across the island. Although it can be busy, being such a large island means you can travel around and pick how close you want to be to the hustle and bustle.



10. Hydra


A car-free island, and only an hour and half ferry from Athens, Hydra is part of the Saronic islands and its quaint town has made it a favourite with celebrities such as Leonard Cohen, Sophia Loren, and Jackie O. The perfect bohemian escape for art lovers.
